ACA OBSERVES ITS 72nd FOUNDATION DAY IN MAJULI

On the auspicious occasion of the 72nd foundation day of Assam Cricket Association (ACA), Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam yesterday laid the foundation stone of a cricket pavilion and a cricket ground to be developed by ACA at Majuli Krira Kshetra in Kamalabari, Majuli in presence of Shri Pradan Baruah, Hon’ble MP, Lakhimpur constituency; Shri Romen Dutta, President, ACA; Shri Devajit Saikia, Secretary, ACA; Shri Porikshit Dutta, Vice-President, ACA; Shri Kamakhya Saikia, Joint Secretary, ACA; Shri Naba Konwar, Member, Apex Council, ACA; Shri Tapash Chakraborty, Member, Apex Council, ACA and a host of other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Assam expressed his satisfaction at ACA’s ambitious endeavour to develop the game of cricket in the picturesque river island district of Majuli. He, at the same time, underscored the fact that the project undertaken by ACA to develop Majuli Krira Kshetra at Kamalabari, Majuli into a proper cricket ground along with a pavilion would give a significant boost to the sports infrastructure of the district. He also expressed hope that the project, once completed, would enable Majuli to host inter-district as well as inter-state cricket tournaments.

Earlier, Shri Romen Dutta, President, ACA delivered the welcome address. Expressing his gratitude to the dignitaries for gracing the ceremony, he added that the event was also an occasion to commemorate the successful completion of 72 years of ACA, which was set up on November 30, 1948..
